Position Summary
Associated Hardwoods, Inc. is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Heavy-duty Lift Operator to support 2nd shift operations in the Packdown Plant. This position involves transporting full lumber units to and from various departments, supporting the stacking team, and ensuring smooth production flow. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial setting, with strong attention to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Lift Operation & Material Transport:
- Safely operate a heavy-duty lift to move full lumber units across departments.
- Support the stacking crew by transporting empty and full units as needed.
- Ensure accurate placement and delivery of lumber to designated areas.
- Stacker Support:
- Coordinate closely with the stacking team to maintain production flow.
- Assist with setup or repositioning of materials for stacking operations.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety protocols when operating equipment.
- Inspect lift equipment daily and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment free from hazards.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Support timely completion of production goals through efficient material movement.
- Communicate clearly with other operators and team members.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment or forklifts in a manufacturing setting.
- Technical & Physical Skills:
- Ability to safely operate heavy-duty lift equipment and maneuver in tight spaces.
- Comfortable lifting, moving, and positioning lumber units weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong spatial awareness and attention to safety at all times.
- Soft Skills & Work Ethic:
- Reliable, punctual, and proactive in supporting team success.
- Clear communication and willingness to work collaboratively.
- Ability to stay focused and productive during 2nd shift hours.
Working Conditions
- Shift Work: 2nd Shift (schedule provided by supervisor).
- Environment: Lumber processing facility with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Protective Equipment: Required use of gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety vests.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and move materials up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Stand, walk, and operate equipment throughout the shift.
- Climb, bend, stoop, and maneuver in a physically active environment.
