Job Title: Boiler Technician/Night Watchman

Position Summary
Associated Hardwoods is seeking a reliable and skilled Boiler Technician/Night Watchman to join our team. This position is critical to the safe and efficient operation of our facility during the night shift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our boiler systems and ensuring smooth facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Boiler Operation: Monitor and operate high-pressure boilers to ensure proper function and efficient fuel combustion using scrap wood shavings.
- System Maintenance: Address and clear system stoppages caused by dust accumulation, sometimes requiring work at heights. Perform routine inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Material Handling: Operate a front-end loader to grind and feed waste material into the boiler.
- Area Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the boiler room and nearby areas by regularly removing dust and debris.
- Equipment Assistance: Assist with general equipment maintenance tasks as needed.
- Reliable Transportation: Ensure consistent and punctual attendance during night shifts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in boiler operation or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience operating and maintaining high-pressure boilers, ideally in an industrial setting.
- Comfortable working at heights safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently overnight and address operational issues as they arise.
Working Conditions
- Night shift schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Exposure to loud noise, high temperatures, wood dust, and moving machinery in an industrial environment.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted; heavier lifting with assistance as needed.
- Stand and walk on concrete or uneven surfaces for long periods.
- Climb ladders, stairs, and catwalks regularly.
- Use hands and arms for tool handling, control operation, and shoveling materials.
- Push and pull to maneuver equipment and materials.
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., front-end loader) and perform manual fuel processing labor.
- Work in hot, dusty, and noisy environments with exposure to mechanical parts.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to maintain equipment or clear stoppages.
- Maintain adequate vision and hearing to identify equipment malfunctions, read gauges, and respond to alarms.
